TAX MATTERS

At Porter Garland, we believe in investing in the future of our profession by giving young people the opportunity to experience life in a busy Chartered Accountancy practice.

Over the past couple of years, we’ve developed a fantastic relationship with The Sixth Form College Farnborough and Tomlinscote School, welcoming students into our office for work experience placements that offer a genuine insight into the world of accountancy.

Following the success of our earlier placements, we’ve recently welcomed two more students from The Sixth Form College Farnborough, who spent time with the team learning about the wide variety of work we do and gaining valuable hands-on experience. It’s always a pleasure to see their confidence grow over the course of their placement, and their enthusiasm and curiosity make the experience rewarding for us too.

To ensure every placement is worthwhile, Amanda once again dedicated time to creating a tailored programme that gives students exposure to a range of client and administrative tasks. From understanding the day-to-day running of an accountancy practice to seeing how we support our clients, each placement is designed to provide meaningful, real-world experience.

Our team also plays a huge part in making the placements a success. Everyone is keen to share their knowledge, answer questions and involve the students wherever possible. Whether it’s sitting in on meetings, taking part in role-play client conversations or learning about different areas of the practice, the students gain a realistic understanding of what a career in accountancy can offer.

We’re incredibly proud to support local students as they explore their future career options and are delighted to continue our partnership with The Sixth Form College Farnborough and Tomlinscote School. We look forward to welcoming many more students through our doors in the years to come.
